Bathrooms rarely fail suddenly; they give hints. The trick is to notice those hints before a full breakdown.
Slow-draining water in the sink, shower or floor is a classic early sign. If water is pooling or taking longer to disappear, something is blocking the pipes—hair, soap, or debris. Ignoring it will eventually lead to complete clogs.
Check taps and flush tanks. A tap that drips or a flush that keeps running wastes a lot of water over time and indicates worn-out internal parts that may fail completely later.
Look closely at grout lines and corners. Damp, dark patches, or crumbling grout near the floor or around fittings can mean water is escaping where it shouldn’t. You may also notice a persistent smell of dampness.
Finally, listen. Gurgling sounds, sudden pressure changes or unusual banging noises when you open or close taps are worth investigating.
Calling a plumber when issues are small isn’t being paranoid—it’s being smart.
