You don’t need a huge terrace to create a peaceful escape. Even a small balcony can become your favourite spot with just a few thoughtful additions.
Start with seating. One comfortable chair or a floor cushion with a thick mat is enough. The idea is to have a place where you would actually sit, not just pose for photos.
Next, add a few plants instead of a jungle. Choose 3–5 medium-sized pots with easy plants—maybe a palm, money plant, flowering bush, or a fragrant herb. Place them at varying heights using stands, stools or railings to create depth.
Soft lighting changes everything. A simple string of fairy lights, a small lantern, or a warm outdoor bulb makes evenings on the balcony feel cosy.
Keep a small side table or crate for your tea, book or phone. If things have a convenient place, you’ll use the balcony more often.
This isn’t about making a “perfect” space. It’s about having one corner where you can breathe and feel slightly away from the noise of the rest of the home.
